i've said from day 1 of the find that i think SWF evolved into space force.

it would also explain why the vehicles were axed and used for sas, dont need a jeep in space.

the whole SWF team have a sci/fi vibe about them.

although swf seems more related to space force as far as figures go, i can also see the barons point about sas.........
personally i hope it was going to be an entirely ne entity that never happened, they just seems more advanced to me, if it became space force, it kinda feels like it was "dumbed down" a bit! swf could easily have been a seperate team, is there no date as far as any of these pics go?

See the previous page of posts, Ironblood. How do the waves work, Baron? I'm getting confused between wave 1 and 2. Was wave one the original Palitoy figures? Or were there 2 waves of the 4 forces? Wave 3 was Hasbro, correct? The Kiwi prototype would have pre-dated production, the question is, by how long I suppose? the torso looks much different to the final production figure.

I think we tend to go with Series 1 for the mini AM figs.
Series 2 was Z Force etc
Series 2 wave 2 were the later additions - Spae Force Mechanic, Q Force Surfer, Spae Force Triad etc
Series 3 we got Cobra Commander and his gang.
And then it all went down hill from there.

Yikes, big post alert:

The other thing that jumps out at me is that the blue Flash clearly goes with the white Vamp. Aside from his position in the photo, Hasbro style figures fit in a Vamp much better than Palitoy figures do. So why is he later marked as coming with the MMS? I'm sure they just dropped the Vamp, and moved him to the MMS, but it still seams wrong to me. The SAS Panther came with Stalker, but the SAS MMS, came with no one. Makes me think a SWS MMS would come with no one.
I think this is perhaps reading too much into it, you could argue why did Hawk come with the MMS but not the Flak in the US?
If you look at the other teams in the 83 trade catalogue, all the JOE figures are straight limbed and there are several figure mock-ups that differ from the final product - Space Force in particular.

No, Space Force had been defined by the time of Kiwi's release.

I don't think so, there are accounts from more than one source confirming that many ideas and teams were created as concepts, some only as brainstorms and sketches, some through to toy mock-ups like SWS. Each time they were whittled down into what was considered an appropriate range.

There is every possibility that had the company structure not changed, more teams could have been introduced down the line. Q-Force and Space Force were not ready for the launch of Series 2, they came a few months later.

I would place them at November/ December 1982. They were ready for the 83 Toy Fair trade catalogue, which in always in January, so the photography would have been at least a month in advance to allow for page planning and print/binding of the catalogue for early January.
