Welcome aboard, Rob. Don't worry about your sanity, that'll soon be out the window ;)

I did something REALLY dumb. I threw out near a complete set of Battle mags from 82 to 88 as well as some irreplaceable AF literature and gave away nearly 30 vintage Star Wars figures. Come to think of it, I also gave away a Action Man DUKW and Ferret. Sigh. Its OK tho, I'm sensible now ;)

i gave all my action force toys to my younger step brothers when i was a teenager due to the misguided belief that i was far to grown up for toys, something i've regretted for years.

i sold or gave away my Action Man figures (only a few) as a very young child when i got into AF and Transformers.

i've never done anything like it since.

The only time I get rid of stuff is when I find a better conditon one..I did have a big clear-out of boxes a couple of years back, but nothing valuable, but can't count the amount of times I've passed up on broken or incomplete stuff & regreted it later when I've realised it had the exact part I was needing to complete some thing..worst one was when I was just collecting Star Wars, I'd purchased a massive bag of :AFLogo: just for one SW figure & gave the rest to a charity shop...I know that doesn't sound too bad, but they was a 90% complete set of :enemy: escape armour as well as lots of Sealion parts in it.

So selling off your collection, was that something you now regret?
I know it would take something really life changing to make me part with mine.
Agreed. I'm not sure what it would take for me to part with my collection.

What I can't stand is when I read in eBay descriptions "My missus has told me to sell my collection, so here it is"
By writing that you are basically saying:
(a) I am a mindless drone with no free will of my own
(b) My missus keeps my balls in a jar by the bed
(c) The poor woman has played no part in this. I need the cash

Basically, I don't like it when someone blames another person for 'having' to sell their collection.
I should probably clarify, I'm not saying that's what you did GI Rob!!!! It's just a little rant from me about wankers!

No, that's pretty accurate.

I did get a fair bit of cash for it.

I wish I'd kept the MOC AF Televiper though... Loved that one... Hardly got anything back for it either.

The new collection's going to be a little more sensible (for now)... I've got a definite idea of what I want

Rob, welcome aboard the sewage hole of Action Force collectors!

Some girls suck cock so marvellous guys go blind! :D

Seriously, this happens all the time: different stages in life with different priorities. You start collecting when single, your appartment gets cluttered with toys. You're living in an oversized boysroom, but you are over twenty. Then you run into a nice lady, priorities change, you need room for the baby, a little extra cash would be fine to support the house, etc. The missus is wondering why you keep all the boxes in the attic when there's need for a new Ford Fiesta. Most guys (especially fathers) understand the situation and sell their collection. Most of them don't even look back. Some guys decide to (partly) rebuild to the collection once the financial situation gets better.

Luckily, I am living with a lady that fully understands the hobby of collecting, we're both making good money, we don't want any kids and we live in a house that easily fits a family of five. So basically for me there is not a single reason for me to sell anything. Still sometimes I wonder: "Why do I have all this sh*t stored in the loft? Some boxes have not been opened for years. If I sell it today I would not miss it."

This is also incredibly accurate
