I agree with Andy too!
My girlfriend knows now there would be only one winner if she wanted me to get rid of all my toys
Although I do keep them all at my mum's house for now whenever we fall out at least she knows where I bugger off to instead of jumping into the arms of another woman although she has referred to them that way.

On the other point about tax it is a bloomin nightmare I was paying council tax (or my mum was) for me while I was based abroad I had to wait until I got leave to prove I wasn't in the country but when I told them that I was in the country :-? Fwits that they are!

This guys parents are now expected to pay his council tax and the guy died 5 months ago in Spain so what facilities in this country has he been using while he was deceased? Proper winds me up this tax bollocks

It's pointless calling them anything else other than toys, they are toys, but what great toys.

huh, me collecting AF and Joe figures is but one of my geeky past-times.

1 i like Trek
2 i read Trek novels
3 i've written nearly 100 Trek fanfics
4 i read comic books
5 i like Star Wars
6 i read SW novels

see? AF and Joe are nearly normal in comparison.

Don't worry about it Sundance
The older I gotten, the more I appreciate the design & craftsmanship of toys & toy designers..I think that toy collecting as a hobby is also becoming more mainstream as well in the past few years..I know I'm not so embarrised to say I collect old toys nowadays..or am I just getting too old to care what others think of me? Untill I started to use the internet I didn't think many people shared my interest in action figures & toys..now I know lots do & I don't feel so isolated about it.

i think you're right tshot, toy collecting has become more mainstream.
i think it has a lot to do with the quality of the designs but also the price of toys nowadays.
a lot of the new figures released lately are super detailed and more adult oriented ie predator or other movie based figures but are also too expensive for kids to collect.
my local comic shop had the new spirit toys in recently and the cheapest fig was £12.
star wars figs as well seem to be around the £6-£8 mark which to me as a parent is too expensive to buy many for my kids.

the thing is that regardless of where we grew up and the fact that we've all rather diverse lives and careers we all share a common bond, it's impossible for me to think that anyone on here is geeky as i enjoy the same hobby, toy collecting will never be fashionable to the masses, however most people collect something from cds to clothes so who's the nerd?

Is it jst me? I find all the new star wars figures "too" realistic..they just seem to be aimed @ adults now with fiddly little bits that I can't imagine lasting 5 min's with kids. I suppose it must be hard for a toy company nowadays kids seem to grow up faster & adult collectors seem to be more & more the target audience..& I guess toys have always seemed expensive to parants I remember my AT-At costing £25 which was a lot of money back then, dad said we could of had a weeks food shopping for that (God.. how old do I sound) & now seems like a bargain price for such a large playset..Bill how do you parents cope with £100+ toys?
