As regards Captain Zargon's backstory, the only thing I've ever seen that was close to telling us where he came from was in the 1984 Action Man annual (also published by Fleetway/IPC, the same as the BAF comic). For the most part the annual is old Battle/Victor Commando strips and stories, but there are a few photos of Action Men of the period posed in various situations along with short descriptions of what's going on, one of which shows a whole bunch of Space Rangers on a cardboard space station with a Zargonite (i.e the outfit sold for AM not the Captain Zargon figure itself) lying on his side. The caption talks about the Space Rangers fighting "black suited invaders from the Planet Ceres", so I guess Ceres is where Zargon and his pals hail from.

As regards the Red Shads logo - definite recycling of Zargon's logo!

Ceres is the largest body in the asteroid belt, recently reclassified as a 'dwarf planet' when all that bull about Pluto not being a planet happened.
