Re: AF clearance packs

Post by Ironhide »

I recall buying a couple of these in my youth in the local toy store (The Netherlands, by the way). From what I gathered from the Palitoy history elsewhere on this site, I guess these were the last of their kind. I recall they contained a wild variety of AF and G.I.Joe figures, usually 4 different ones in complete randomness and sometimes not even with the same accessoires.

Back then, they were fairly cheap so I bought a few to add some body to my figure collection and still save for the vehicles :) Although the trick for me was to find packages with either 'grunts' that I wouldn't mind having more than 1 of, or new characters and to avoid those frigid old style AF figures with the appalling articulation. Of course now I'm glad I have a few, if only to feel part of the gang, but hey..

These are the figures I am pretty sure I bought in AF packages, but not all of them come from the 4-in-1 packages:

Red Laser (usually with the same pistol as Cobra Commander) 6x
Cobra soldier (blue uniform, red chest logo, with rifle - but these could've been original G.I.Joes) 2x
Scrap iron (with just a small pistol)
Ace (with helmet)
Cobra Commander (with pistol)
Copperhead (green gloves)
Zartan (with mask, chest- and leg pieces, backpack and pistol)
Major Bludd (steel arm elbow does not articulate, with backpack and rocket launching pistol)
HISS driver
Baroness (with backpack and rifle)
Recondo (with backpack and rifle)
Destro (seem to recall he had a gun and backpack, but I do not have them now)
Stalker
Quarrel
Steeler (both with red helmet+scope, one with uzi with broken off magazine underneath hand-hold) 2x
Grunt (with helmet and rifle)
Kraken
Sea Skimmer (one painted yellow/black camouflage with black marker, sorry about that!) 2x (oh, ovoid mikes, btw)
Dolphin v2 (with backpack, bazooka, helmet but not visor)
Minesweeper
Z Force captain
SAS squad leader
unknown Z Force character with same body as the captain but green undershirt, non-camouflage legs (except top of legs) and head with hair instead of a baret.

Oh, which is probably important: many of the G.I.Joe characters in these packages were stamped on the ass or inside leg as built by Hasbro, usually in HongKong and in 82-83 or 1983. But I think I must've bought them in 1985 or 1986.

Can anyone help me identify which of these may have come from the 4-in-1 packages? I'd like to have all of their origins clear before I put everything up for sale.
