Welcome to the boards,
I lived in Sheffield for quite a few years while at Uni and spent many lovely nights at the Leadmill, one of them accompanied by a Kraken...

Ahhhh, the Leadmill - I've met one or two Krakens there myself over the years too!
I was here at Uni (95 to 98), then left for a few years, then came back in 2001. Ahh, how time flies.....

Don't know if I ever posted in this thread. I'm from Pennsylvania (near Montrose like anyone knows where that is) in the good old US of A.
Did a search on the Baroness one day and came across the old Battle Action Force comics, and been hooked ever since being a joe enthusiast from back in 1982.

Ah that Baroness comic is superb - I remember being absolutely gutted when the comic changed from the Shadows to Cobra.
What you newbies need to understand is that when World Enemy episode 1 was published we kids had NO IDEA that the toyline was being axed, we all thought that the comic was taking huge risks and it was a very exciting time. It wasn't until World Enemy finished that the horrible truth dawned - that's why it was always such a thrill when The Black Major or SAS returned.
However, the next strips were Operation Snakebite and The Baroness, both of which are superb - Snakebite because it skilfully introduces new characters, and shows Zartan at his most menacing, he went off the boil in later stories like Jungle of Doom or Deep Cover IMO. The Baroness was psychotic from the start, building up to a fever pitch and ruthlessly betraying absoultely everyone.
It was this story that kept me reading the comic, because I boycotted the toyline from that point on. I may have only been ten years old but I could spot a rip-off even then! No way was I buying a 2nd Command Centre for a set of variant stickers!
Um... hello SteveD!

Was at a conference in Sheffield a few years back and went to a pub called "The Place". There wasn't an ugly woman in the place it was amazing!! Mind you me and my mate were the two oldest blokes in the pub with a fairly big exclusion zone around us! They must have thought we were feds!
I've never posted on this bit either!
Like everyone else started collecting when I was a kid, and then when bored one night (two months agoish) went on to ebay and started buying and bidding badly to start with but soon got the hang of it. First purchase was from the other Paul (SAS Attack trooper) also got some stuff from tintin.
I work with the Blood Transfusion Service, got a long job title so won't go into that!
Cheers
