I'm going to start on Best of Battle sometime this year, it was a toss-up to begin with that or Charley's War and I went for the latter. Just got the first one last week, utterly compelling. Can't believe I was my lad's age when I first read it - the ramifications of a lot of events in that and other Battle stories must have washed straight over my nine year old head.

Keep it under your hats, but I know that the Charley's War books are scheduled to be rescanned for a second edition.

Sweet. I'd love to see compilations of Johnny Red, Death Squad, Panzer G man, Fighting Mann, sh*t, the whole lot really. Even Jimmy Chang. There were some great stories in Action too.
Baron, I noticed that a heap of Bootneck boy were in the Battle annuals, how much more story is there after the last annual? I think I have up to 1988.

I don't know. Check BestofBattle, there used to be a timeline guide, but everything's been redesigned...

Does anyone know how long most of these stories lasted? I remember reading Johnny Red and Charley's War before we moved to the Isle of Man in 1987 and they still went on a few years after. I think Charley's war was put into Eagle soon after but I don't know where mine are now to check.

Both Charleys War and Johnny Red started in the 70's iirc. Charleys war was reprinted in Eagle. He would have finished around 1986/7 if memory serves after Dunkirk he retired and before Eagle took over. I stopped reading in 1988 after Storm Force came along.....
Baron, Thebestofbattle lists Action Force as a Mattel company. Bloody outrageous.

Damned good read tho.

Yep I got the best of Battle and also the classic comic souvenier special.
I won't be holding my breath for the Land of Battle to be released on time though going by the Best of Battle and Charley's war late release last year and the Johnny Red which still hasn't been released when the release date was sometime last year I think.
