I have the same thing with my customs Monkfish. Once they are done Little Humby gets to play with them so I try to avoid painting as much as possible. Don't get me wrong he is very respectful and I know that undercoating and varnishing can make the paint quite hard wearing but its still a worry.Makes life very hard trying to track down certain parts in the right colour.

Humby I know what you mean. The issue is compounded when you have to resort to one-off custom colours. I've still not tracked down that flesh paint you recommended, so this one used a diy mix of white, red, yellow and green.

My kid is conscientious too. Sometimes too conscientious - he gets worried about breaking or scratching the customs and older stuff and has to be reminded that they are his toys, to use how he wants.

I know exactly what you mean mate. PM me your address and I have some of that Tamiya flesh paint you can have. If you wanted to jazz the pilot up a bit more how about a modified mask from Ripcord?

Humby, thanks for the offer. I've got one last hobby shop to try and get into this week, which has the worst opening hours ever - 10am to 3pm most weekdays, otherwise closed and if it's snowing forget it (how do they survive?). If they don't do Tamiya or any half-decent substitute then I'll pm you. I've managed to get into the shop once before and it's an Aladdin's Cave, so there's a chance.

I've just looked at Ripcord in the archive and really like that idea - time to go hunting on ebay.

Thundershot, I agree and will see if the young 'un is happy to do that - if he is I'll post pics.

Squad Leader (not Sundance - oops, sorry), the fact I've not yet learned how to paint curvy lines yet is the only reason it doesn't look like that already. ;-) In truth the face mold is awful - for some reason he has vertically corrugated skin and no lips, so it was a bugger to get him looking human.

Chopper, cheers. I think that the black triangles with white chevron on the upper arms were a masterstroke by Palitoy in the design of the Red Shadow. Put them on another figure and it starts to fit in.
