Bugger. Beat me to that one I was reading up on that a while ago. I built up a parts Destro and painted his spare chest as Red Jackel. This chap has both a 1983 numbered thigh and made in HK butt. Lucky fellow. My original Destro has only made in HK, no date anywhere. The rarer chap.

With the state of mix and match around here it might be a bit difficult to prove quite a few theories.

Don't worry Steve, it won't stay civilised too long

There is a variation in the date stamp on Destro. Some versions of Destro have the date stamp "Hasbro 1983" on the inside of his leg, while some versions have no date stamp at all. The Destro missing the date stamp seem to be slightly harder to find than the date-stamped Destros
from Yo Joe!
Thanks Sundance, so my Series 3 I've had since a nipper is the variant. Interesting.

Did the same apply for Cobra Officer's butts?

Cobra Officers shared butts with the troopers, HISS drivers, NAJ drivers and Hunter. Now my desk is piled with them I can tell you that they are all butt stamped. The only variation was in the eye colour. Brown or black. Aussie ones are all black.

The butt was also used for TF Duke and Steel Brigade, or at least some of them. But I don't have any of them.

This is all very interesting.

Given the effort and time I put into the variant tables in Series 1 and 2 (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5849), I'll be buggered if I'm doing anything else! Someone else can do the Series 3.

Still, it would be nice to have:
a) the definitive list of all variants from Series 1, 2.1, 2.2 and 3
b) a history of AF from Origins to it demise in GI Joe.
c) a sex life!

You may want to specify point c) before Ironblood sees it...

Could you be more specific about specifying?

Something other than hand to gland combat!
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

All 9 figures here are;

C 82-83 Hasbro
Made In Hong Kong

That is 2 HISS drivers, 1 NAJ driver, 1 Hunter, 3 Troopers and 2 officers. Of these, the troopers and officers are Kiwi/Aussie, Hunter is obviously AF, 1 HISS driver is AF and the other US and I think the NAJ driver is AF.
