Adding another to the mix, and noting that Skeletron was provided weaponless:

[ Skeletron is the Enemy's service droid, designed to perform basic tasks in any environment. Featured as standard equipment in the Roboskull, the lightweight yet agile Skeletron is able to perform mid-battle repairs in the harsh vacuum of space. ]

It's very close to Paul's bio, except that in this case the design and function of Skeletron is intentional, rather than Skeletron-as-failed-bi-product.

you mean Skeletron's the Roboskull's R2 unit?

i think, as far as Snakes is concerned, that may be the best you're going to get at merging alternate bios, unless you want to add something from the stupid GI Joe VS Transformers comic where he was a motor-mouth who gets injured and silenced.

as for Major Flagg/The Commander; that bio was basically riffing on my fan-fic where the mailaway figure is 'The Commander', Action Force's CO, a Brigadier. Major Flagg (from the :af: era comics) is a seperate character and The Commander's aide. if you want, i can do a bio of The Commander.

The way I see it, and using BAF depiction, The Commander is Major Flagg. There may be higher ranking officers, but they may or may not be direct members of AF.

Snake's won't be too hard, tho getting a good BAF image is not so easy.

Muton had no weapons either, so I'm not sure I wouldn't be packing my trousers if Skeletron attacked unarmed ;-) Either that or pissing myself silly, in any case I'd have to change my undies. Eddie?

That could be one of its jobs; repairing the outside of a Roboskull seemed a good example.

I see as it as made for doing tasks in places where it would be too lethal or expensive to send a shadow, and where the bulk, inflexibility and lethargy of a muton would be a hindrance. Not that Ironblood would care about the life of a shadow, I'm thinking more in the sense that a shadow would likely die before they finished the job.

That doesn't rule out fighting roles for the Skeletron - yeah I can imagine a horde of these things (still weaponless) relentlessly attacking a z-force unit with soldiers in fear of the 'undead army'.

I wonder if Palitoy left any clues what the point of Skeletron was? It seems odd to make a new mold for a mailaway figure without a background story.

There was no background for the Commander either, they were a bit tardy with their mail ins ;-)

Been meaning to ask, Monkfish, what happened to Sledge? How about "Thank god. NO! Thank gun", or "In gun we trust". ;-)

Very true. In my Book, Mark, the tan Hat Commander is overall Top Man, and the Series 2 Red Hat version is Z Force Top Man.

It works for me.....

Its easy to pin the red hat guy as a Zed, but he was never refereed to as being a member of any team. I never considered Series 1 to be part of AF canon but you could put brown hat man as a Army/Nato/UN General, and red hat man as AF Commander in that situation. All the other forces have a top rank of Captain (except Duke), so the Major out ranks the lot. Probably not getting my point across properly.

Here's how it works for me;

Series One, Not canon.

Series Two and three, rank order;

1, Major Flagg

2, Duke (Master Sgt), Skip (Cpt), Leviathan (Cmdr), Eagle(Cpt) and Skyraider(Cmdr)

3, All other members are NCO's at best.

Some thoughts re topic:

Chopper. I agree with you about Series 1 being non-canonical.
But I'm not sure about Red Hat being overall Action Force commander. Maybe.
I suppose it depends on how big each force is - Z force for example - 100 men? More? Certainly a lot in Is a captain right for that many men? If Af are recruiting 'the best of the best of the best", then surely some of them will be captain also, or even of a higher rank, outranking Skip.

But in Desert Strike - page 1, first square - he says he is the commanding officer of Z Force.

Perhaps its a more informal organization like the SAS in real life - no rank per se, etc.

Better to have Red Cap as Z force commander, i think, with AF in general perhaps answering directly to the UN? Although a single individual - a major flagg for example - representing AF to the UN would make more sense. So perhaps you are right?

Dunno! I can't actually believe i'm having this conversation - 25yrs later than i would have expected!
