The name is because of trademark issues. It's like "G.I. Joe Hawk" or "Cobra Slice". Those are so common words that need a suffix to better secure the trademark. The same has happened with TF. In fact, you can see some TF examples here: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Trademark#Names_ ... r_suffixes

But surely through DDP they had that right already?

Seemingly, it's a bit more complicated. I don't get a lot of that, but the tfwiki article explains some things

That was a good article DA it answers the question I had for ages as to why certain Joe characters were re-named like Clutch who became referred to as Double Clutch a name which I think is crap

Next Joe/TF crossover: battle for the trademarks!
Featuring "General Abernathy", "Double Clutch" and "Shockblast" against "Shockblast", "Battle Ravage" and "Tankor"

this all boils down to the classic filecards 82-84 and the 25th ones, which were originally designation then code name,
i.e. Laser Trooper : Flash

this was/is a big headache especially with Joes like Roadblock, Stalker, even Scarlett, so the designation moniker partly gets round this too

I really don't like the translucent version at all. Hideous.

The normal version's pretty good though.

Agreed. I think the collecting public concurs as well. I've had the variant on my website and ebay for weeks and not so much as a nibble.
