Ah! Only now, at the end, do I understand.
Is it me or did Ian McDiarmid absolutely rock as the Emperor in Jedi only to turn into a large plank of wood in the prequels? Oh well.

I loved him in the prequels, he was given a much bigger role and he seemed to have a lot of fun with it...

I'm feel the same TKW, he was one of the reasons the prequels were watchable. Him and Ewan McGregor mostly.

The bit I thought really sucked was when Samuel L Jackson and the other Jedi turned up to arrest Palpatine. There's no doubt George Lucas screwed up the fight sequence on the day of filming it (I saw it on the DVD extras) But When Windu has Palpatine pinned down and Palpatine is becoming deformed, he starts saying "No......No..." in the most wooden piece of acting since....well, a wooden thing was in something.

as sundance said, Vintage Star Wars Collectables,
when The Baron got me to sign up i was a bit on the spot and that was all i could think of at the time but now having thought about it i would like to change it but i guess the only way to do that would be to start a new account but i cant be arsed with that as i'd lose all my posts...
