i'm not wanting to sound an ass, but i think your business model needs a rethink if you have to sell black and white collections to be able to do the colour versions or your own material.
really, if you wanna pay the artist for doing the Red Dawn comic, it should come down to: we need to sell X number of copies at price A or Y number of copies at price B. and not we need to sell Z number of copies of item G at price M to pay the artist.
where, say X is 50 at $3 dollars or Y is 25 copies at $6 dollars. that or you simply put out a trade paperback collection at say $25 dollars and say you need to sell 15 in order to make money

It's more like; we want to do this, how can we raise the funds?
Red Dawn costs money to create, but will take a long time to pay off the initial investment (artists fees). Whereas we have the scans sat here ready to go now, which can quickly be converted into collected editions at no cost other than printers setup fees.
It's about BFTB product as a whole, we're not looking to make a profit here, just to raise enough finance to cover the costs.

well, yeah, i get that. i phrased that poorly at the end, cuz i was in a hurry. but what i meant was, surely you should be using the money you get from selling RD or the colour versions to pay the artist/colourist, rather than trying to sell another product to make up your shortfall.
or am i just being to much of a business analyst? (LOL LOL LOL*)
*much loling because i got an E at GCSE business studies

I'll say yes (and PM sent).
The coloured versions are going to take YEARS to complete, and even then there's no guarentee we'll make it to the end (I hope we do, but...). The black and white versions would allow me to have a complete, non-digital BAF archive at my fingertips right now, as buying the comics individually is out of the question for so many reasons.
Certainly it'll be expensive initially, but in the long run I reckon I'll be saving. As the coloured versions would be coming so infrequently, I'd be getting those at intervals too.
Actually, now my interest for the B&W versions has been raised, I'll be really disappointed if Jamar doesn't get those 10 customers.

Sundance , your definately NOT wrong , your right infact IF we were trying to do this as a business.
but this was never meant to be a business, were trying to do this and get it out to people as cheap as possible, and for everyone to get as much out of thier money as possible.
like the baron has said the black and white versions are ready to go, it doesnt cost us as much money
People ( especially in the beginning ) on other boards called me a lot of negative things for starting the color editions saying these comics were meant to be in B and W and not colored
so I was just thinking on how we could give people MORE for thier money
were going to bump up the price on Red Dawn series and we are going to only post a few preview pages from now on ( we already changed it on issues 1-3 ) but were still trying to get as much stuff out there to the fans at the least amount of money.
the GI JOE Club sells their 22 page comic for $5.00 an issue , so maybe well do the same with issues 4-10 and any new orders for issues 1-3.
we were just trying to think of ways to spread out the cost (so people almost dont notice the cost) instead of putting ALL the expenses on ONE item and people saying $10 dollars an issue for RED DAWN !
for the same amount of money you can get Red Dawn and the b and w collection.
still not a good business model, but were not trying to do a business here, its more like a charity
we need about 5 more people and its a go!!!

Put me down for at least one Jamar, and let me know when the deadline is so I can organise myself. I'd hate to see this opportunity wasted, even if I am on a budget.

Hello strangers.....
First up, a belated "HELLO AND HAPPY NEW YEAR" to everyone (yep, shite it's been THAT long since I was last around here). Secondly, I want to echo 100% what
Crimson says... I really do need to have all 10 volumes now to appease my OCD nature and rest assured I'll likely get the colour ones as and when they arrive. But as already mentioned, that will take a while and so if I can get all 10 volumes in one hit this year and also help the Red Dawn project - then stick me down for the full set
Jamar.
Anyhow, hope you get the 10 people getting the 10-Volume Full Sets so we can enjoy the mags again and help the BFTB movement. Quick... before my bank manager finds out and gives me the crucifiction treatment.
Right then, looking forward to bantering again and 'seeing' you all around the place,
Steve.
