Dammit I was still holding out for 7-9, hoping this "The Saga is Now Complete" byline was all a ruse.

Clone Wars is cracking, I have to say I'm enjoying the show more than the film (probably 'cos General Grievious is in it). I admit I cheered out loud at the end of the R2 double-episode.

I've only managed to get two of the Clone Wars episodes watched (the rest are lurking on Sky+ box waiting patiently) and got to say I'm liking what I see. I like how they are set kind of outside the film story lines, and each one is a stand alone tale.

The 7-9 idea got binned years ago. A friend said that the Clone Wars movie copped the worst film of 08 in some dodgy list. I have to say I loved it. There was a classic Star Wars feel to it that was missing from the prequel trilogy.

I did a Kiddy re-edit of ROTS so my son could watch it. Being 4 I thought burning Jedi and dispatched Padawan's was a bit rough on the little guy. I was pissed I couldn't take him to see it. Fortunately TCW came along. Was considering doing an AF re-edit of the Joe movie. But it sucked too hard to bother. Maybe the series..... Hmmm.

I also loved Willow, not just because it was partially filmed in NZ. It was a great film. My kids love it too. Hey, don't forget Boba Fett is a Kiwi - Jake the Muss. Put him in the cargo hold, then cook the man some eggs, bitch.

Careful opening this one, its a bit rough. Not for kids. Tamest Jake the Muss footage I could find tho.

I take it YOU won't be tuning in to the new CLONE WARS series then? Ha ha!
Post 1984, eh? I quite liked WILLOW... Val Kilmer's Madmartigan was meant to be a proto-Jedi, apparently...

PS. MERRY CHRISTMAS, Quickfire, old boy!
Tnx old boy.

I'd like to watch, just got to find the chance.

Episode 2 was where it all went wrong, when the gang of Jedi arrive to save the day on Geonosis they look like Macclesfield Town FC 3rds rolling up against Huddersfield Ladies over-60s. When they landed on Tatooine they had the chance to perfectly monster the Kessel run again but it all went out of the window.

With the advent of CGI Georgie-boy had the chance to do his "faster-more intense" routine to the nth degree and everyone suffered. He's working through it but it's still too much as witness Indiana Jones IV.

Eisenblut is right, Grevious is a great character. Dooku, Grevious, Jango and Palpatine had fantastic potential but that's all gone now. Whatever ...

Georgie-boy only really cancelled 7-Up after Episode 2 was definitively defenestrated.

Man I spat my coffee at the thought of that. Awesome analogy. Like the Monty Python re-enactment of Pearl Harbour.

PS got a gift card for a local DVD store, just got the clone wars movie this morning. ;) My collection is yet again complete.

Does anyone else feel that Clone Wars(film & new series) is Lucas's way of saying Ep2 is shite ,and rather than re-editing the film start from scratch and make a cheaper version that is more to what fans expected?

BTW if Lucas does'nt want to direct and produce anymore films then why can't he pass batton down?Let someone with fresh ideas take the story on,should'nt the final part of the Vader story be his legacy?Luke & Leia becoming great Jedi masters and ending a final attempt by the Sith to control the Galaxy.

I think it is a good thing he has finished the way he has, we'll get the live action TV shows and maybe spin-off movies from that. But the Darth Vader stories are done and dusted. I was reading Wiki the other day after this thread popped up, the negative reviews of TCW are amazing. I have to this Sparrowhawk may be right to some degree. TCW is a great movie, and the series kicks butt over the prequel trilogy. I can't be the only one that thinks this?

And so, just like that, Lucas has swept the Expanded Universe aside. And when it comes to those recent, violent stories that makes all of Luke's efforts during the original movies amount to nothing whatsoever, I can't say I blame him.

I must admit, I'd always hoped we'd get to see a story set after Jedi in which we see Luke establishing himself as a Jedi Master... but not in a bloody gore-fest such as those described above.

Of course, a trilogy would be great... but even just a one-off (animated and without Star Wars in the title if necessary!) would be welcome.

But if Lucas says that's it, then that's it. Unless he changes his mind. It's his baby.

What they're doing with E.U is Daft.. so I agree with Lucas on that(then again I thought Tales of Bounty Hunters was daft) ..but I liked how Marvel handled it back in the day. Its neat that a live Action T.V show will be coming out though i'd like to think it'll be in a sci fi spagetthi western type theme concerntrating on all kinds of characters as opposed to the main players of the saga , can't really see a point to EP7-9 now the original trilogy far outshone the prequels .. Vaders stories continue though through comics and computer games , It wouldn't surprise me to see a Force Unleashed 2 .. And a follow up the Clone Wars cartoons set in Galatic Civil Wars times:wolf:

The old Marvel comics that came out at the time of the original trilogy were excellent, and a perfect way to flesh out the existing film universe. I found the stories & characters to be better than the on-screen counterparts actually - Still do.
The current trend to be 'dark, gritty and nihilistic' is present in pretty much all modern comics sadly, so no wonder the EU followed the same path.
