I collect Transformers but only ones from the original G1 series (and only specific ones), some of the recent Classics range and most of the live action movie figures (the proper line, not so much the kiddy ones or the tiny micro versions, and I tend to paint them up a bit to look all metally and detailed like they do in the movie). Most of my original collection of Transformers was sold off nearly two years ago due to me having money problems mainly caused by not getting paid for freelance work I completed... grr. The only one I kept from that collection was the large Powermaster Optimus Prime cos that had some sentimental value for me.
I also have a large collection of figures based on the japanese manga series Devilman, particularly the line by Fewture. These are pretty large and since I've moved here they haven't yet been unpacked cos I haven't yet put up enough shelves for them.
Slowly building up a collection of 25th Anniversary GI Joes. So far got eleven of them but again I don't want all of them, just the ones I think look cool or are of characters I liked in the Marvel Comics. Also got a few Doctor Who figures but am waiting til the Classic figures come out to really start those. And I've got some mint in packaging Darkwing Duck figures cos I always enjoyed that show too.
I did have a nice ThunderCats collection of most of the good guys, bad guys, the tank, the bad guys tank and some other bits, but again that got sold around same time my old Transformers did too.
I did have decent sized collections of He-Man and Star Wars stuff when I was a kid though they got sold to buy more Transformers and I can't say I've ever really missed them. Though I wish my mother had got more money for them. She sold all the He-Man stuff (say about 20 figures, plus Castle Grayskull all complete) for £5... which was only half what I needed to get the Transformer Sideswipe I wanted. Thought she was gonna get at least £30 cos I wanted a few other TF's too. Tsk. I really don't remember where the Star Wars figures went. Had about 20 of those plus the Falcon.

There's certainly patterns developing here isn't there. Most people seem to have a vintage side to their collection and some modern too. I find it really interesting to see what other folks are in to, and am finding myself discovering some cool stuff when I'm googling peoples interests! (trying not to get tempted into any new collections, but my will power is weakening!)
I have some stuff I didn't mention like quite a few SW Episode 1 figures, that I'd planned to sell as I need the space, but I see they aren't worth very much, nor really worth even listing on Ebay, so they may just have to stay in their box in the crawl space.
Think I've decided that the only way I'm going to get to enjoy all of my collections without buying a massive house (which would probably be self defeating, as I'd then need to sell the collections [and my ass probably, based on current house prices!] to fund the house!) is to adopt a rota system for my display cases. My collection of 1/18th scale cars (largely Dukes of Hazzard and american classics) has taken up the cabinet for the last six months, so figure they may well take a rest from wowing the visitors to my humble abode, whilst my loose AF collections enjoy the breeze on their faces for the rest of the year.
Once I've been to visit me Dad that is and tackled the loft (and possibly the shed roof too, just in case any are still up there!) I'll try to get them sorted and get some pictures up in weeks to come. Again, be interested to see pictures of any other collections/displays etc. Go on - it's not really showing off if the assembled masses want to see it!!!

AF is really the only 80's thing I collect. I do however, have a collection of 1/48 scale plastic model kits (about 50 or so!) waiting to be built. Also a collection of replica minature medals (UK campaign and gallantry) from the 1700's to the first Gulf war (almost completed the collection). I also started collecting the Corgi forward march series of lead soldiers until they discontinued the series in the middle.

Pleased to report I've just returned from a weekend visit to my Dad's house with a huge box full of Action FOrce from the loft, along with a bin bag full of AF base!
Can't wait to rediscover my childhood collection tomorrow tonight, and add it to my "adult acquired" collection! It'll be like 1983 all over again!

Damn it! Jammer is MIA! As is Zartan! I suspect the master of disguise to be up to something! (either that or I missed a carier bag!)
Pleased to report the base is in ace condition! All guns, cameras, search lights and everything present! (other than Jammer, obviously, but he's hiding somewhere).
I suspect I may to mobilise a covert rescue mission back to the North East in the coming weeks to bust him out!
Any suggestions for team members? Strikes me as a job for the SAS boys?

Going slightly off topic because the collection isn't mine! My lad is heavily into Thunderbirds at the moment (thats what the AF sales money went on!) and so far has a pretty good collection, and i'm telling him the importance of getting the complete sets as they have the rare bits! (keep telling him to put the little 1.5" men into the collectors case ( re: a toolbox )he has every night or its up the hoover they may go!
Now i am going to make damn sure that they never get sold so in 30 years time he doesn't regret asking me to evilbay them or something!
But my recent visit to my dads loft (recurring theme there) has got me interested in the original AF figure so may start collecting them now. That is is i ever get through reading Spiderman & Zoids, fixing Zoidzilla or building all the lego that i also found up there and have liberated!
What a great thread

I got a tantalising glimpse of a few boxes of lego technics when i was up there! Couldn't get to it though for a car dashboard and old interior. I'll take some climbing gear next time! I seem to remember my Zoidzilla was heavily reliant on superglue in his later days, so Lord knows what he'll be like when I dig him out. I have vague memories of a huge stegasaurus too, but I cant recall his name.
Much respect to Jonny Red for that - selling you own collection to kick start your boys! (and I'm sure you can sneak in a crafty play with it once he's gone to bed! Thunderbirds are cool whether your three or thirty three!)
