1986 - No new releases. Looks like this was the year Palitoy was bought out by Hasbro. . .

1987 - Action Force was relaunched in the US GI JOE style packaging with International Heroes replacing A Real American Hero.

That makes more sense. I was never quite clear on the time line and there always seemed to be a year missing. Thank you.

meertoh is bob on. I remember going into Toy & Hobby in Chester around May 1987 and seeing the "new" Action Force figures, they were the 1985 Joes and on American style cards (just Action Force replaced the words GI Joe, and International Heroes instead of RAH as meertoh mentioned). I remember it vividly as I bought Lady Jaye, Flint, Shipwreck, Footloose, Bazooka, & Airtight. They were the only Hasbro Action Force I bought. though a mate of mine somehow got hold of CG and Eel, jammy b*gger.

Wierdly toys like the Dragonfly helicpoter were also released over here at that time and in the new AF packing. I think Hasbro pretty much released all the Joe toys we'd missed between 82 and 85 at once.

It must have been late 80s when the line over here became GI Joe the Action Force (88 or 89 I'd guess) as I have a Warthog in GI Joe the Action Force box, Sgt Slaughter was also renamed Sgt Slammer over here.

I do remember that 1986 was just about the only year I got no new toys, Star Wars had died a death and Action Force seemed to have gone a similar way. I got dead excited in early 1987 when the new Marvel Action Force comic was released and I saw adverts for new toys.

Sadly as 87 drew to a close my hormones kicked in and I became aware of the alluring powers of the opposite sex, and no more toys were bought until the mid 90s by me.

Andy, those toy brochures are perfect!

I really want to work out a timeline and list of what vehicles and figures came out in '86, '87, '88 etc, though as was stated here probably no new toys came out in '86.

Those comic adverts from the comics are great, too Baron.

Anyone got any lists at all already that we can start to build from?

Might be worth asking over at http://www.yojoe.com before you start working on it, also, if you can reach him, Alex of http://www.gijoeuk.com had plans for this very thing. Try dropping him an e-mail at admin@gijoeuk.com

I bought this Gi Joe toy brochure off ebay.

Not sure on the year, maybe 1989?

Its double sided, but I've only had time to scan the one side [it takes a fair while with my crappy scanner]

Now here's where it gets confusing - is that a UK or US GI Joe flyer? Is it in pounds or dollars?

Im sure thats a US brochure as some of those vehicles (maybe most) were never released in the UK, but its not unusual for a toy company to print leaflets detailing products never available in that particular country.
