I seem to remember that sea king story, was it mentioned in Ghost Squadron?

It was mentioned in Sandy Woodwards "100 days"Chopper wrote:I seem to remember that sea king story, was it mentioned in Ghost Squadron?
Should be in both. One of the Sea King pilots concerned has since written a memoire too. There is more general detail associated with an award given to one deployed without loss of transport. Although the transport concerned was not necssarily the same.paul463 wrote:It was mentioned in Sandy Woodwards "100 days"Chopper wrote:I seem to remember that sea king story, was it mentioned in Ghost Squadron?
Correct on all counts. The Provo episode was indeed scrubbed at the last minute as the ceasefire had been signed. The book retained the broad overview of the B Squadron approach to related matters...Double-Tap wrote:I think I might have got this documentary mixed up with sas the soldiers story. I remember they refused to show the IRA episode.
If memory serves the iranian embassy episode showed internal footage of a terrorist pulling a grenade while running down stairs and getting emptied by 4 or 5 troopers. I'll have to watch these when I get a chance. Thanks for posting.
By the way the book, sas a soldiers story, is a cracking read. Told from the troopers perspective, some cracking wee stories.
