Re: Avalon Airshow 2017
So what long range options do the RAF Have? NZ's is limited to P3k Orions. Mind you, they have an impressive range but not a lot of ordnance.
Let me tell you, Gunner La-De-Dah Graham, the British Army can fight anything! Intimate or not!
Re: Avalon Airshow 2017
Nothing long range other than the transports. P8 will be here in a few years. The RAF is all about projecting air power in an expeditionary manner from forward bases in friendly local countries.
When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

P8's are flying here already. RAAF P3's will be retiring next year, so the ones we saw will be the last time they will be displayed. Maybe the RNZAF can grab them for next to nothing for spares.

O wonder if the RNZAF will start to rearm like the rest of the world?

The P3k's can carry ordnance, but I get your point. The answer to your question is yes, only after they have to, like they did in 1939 for some odd reason.

They had best start now because I'm sure the next big thing is just round the Corner!Chopper wrote:The P3k's can carry ordnance, but I get your point. The answer to your question is yes, only after they have to, like they did in 1939 for some odd reason.

China is doing a fair bit of chest beating. US troops have been stationed in Northern Australia and begun exercising in NZ for the first time since the ANZUS treaty collapse. Coincidental? I think not. Especially as it coincides with Chinese aircraft carrier and stealth fighter production.
