Pretty much self taught mate. I've some pictures somewhere on a memory stick that might help a lot. I will email you then later if I can find them. I was going to do a tutorial at one point.
It's amazingly rewarding when it goes right, but also can be frustrating. A word of advice - try not to get involved in mass production! It can kill your enthusiasm for the hobby!

Thanks a lot. I think I just fancy the idea of casting the odd figure, maybe similar to Brian where ill (in my head at least) make some funky custom coloured figures every now and again but don't picture these being done to sell on. He is far better than I ever imagine ill be and his ARAH jointed cast stuff looks superb.

This was another clear cast experiment. I was never quite happy with the end result, so don't remember if I shared it. It's original barons head, placed into the mould of the cobra commander head, then cast around with clear, and painted up. I was going for the arty "view behind the mirrored mask" look, but never quite got the paint so I was happy with it.

I love that idea. I don't think you've shared that one, Steve. Fantastic.

I couldn't get the 'cut away' section anything like I wanted it to be. I wasn't sure to try to paint it jagged - like its blown off in battle, or simply divided, like I have it now. And then I got fed up with it and put it to one side!!!

Superb, love the Megatron gun there Steve.
Would there be a some way of moulding only half of the face plate section of the helmet?

Or just hollow and cut a CC head?

Yeah, that'd work chopper. I actually have tons of CC heads cast. I could hollow one out and do the battle damaged/part blown off option with Barons head beneath, without ruining a genuine CC head.
