He never had the makings of a varsity athlete.

Oh yeah, there are a lot of Ivans like the Ivans in Johnny R, strange to see an extrapolated rendering of past reality so pertinent to the ever present. Joe Colghuon's drawing's spot on, text excellent, at this point it's the same guy Mills who did Charley's War yeah?

Reminds me of my last trip to the caves in Kerch, heavy moments.

No I believe it was written by Tom Tully, but Joe Colquhoun did the art for Charley if that's what you're thinking of. He was replaced on JR by John Cooper of BAF fame.

That's cool, I knew Coluqhoun did the early episodes, Tully certainly writing later. Credits don't appear on this site. I think all the data is in Joe Coluqhoun's obituary, still have it safe (in the container) too.

The other thing - Johnny metamorphoses into Rob Shaw (of A Man for All Seasons and Jaws among others) quite quickly. See where J Cooper could gain inspiration from

Fk, just got a flashback to Jakob's Ghost in the B17 over the Schweinfurt ball-bearing factory.

We've gotta reprint all this stuff.

Funny about Kraskin. There's a Col. Kraskii in in the midst of Smiliean muppetry if I remember correctly, might have been about the same time JR was created...

Meantime, Johnny lucked out on English speekin rooskis

Ah, it's pure gold. Your best bet for reprints is Rebellion, they've been running Charley's War as backup in the Megazine which led to the Titan hardbacks. Other than that it's fansites with scans...

Have searched ebay to no avail, ditto London.

Basically we need to reprint, get on board with rebellion head honchos

"Stak!"
"Regrouping!"
"Nice on Rogue"

We turn up in blue and as AF characters and they will love us for it and do whatever we want. Maybe I invite them all to Afghanistan in October a la recherche de temps perdui, kanyeshna.

In the meantime, it's let's OD website gold.

PS. Charley's War needs to be a goddamn comprehensive book. Then they use the profits for JR in the long run. Then D-Day Dawson. Then Rat-Pack. Or 2 of the above at the same time. Deine sozial-geschichte arbeiter im konflikt mit realitaet.

Juergen's just turned up. This is like my pa telling me of re-arming Hurries in 40 as a kid, and then being told "Both of us are going straight back up at the Heinkel Fleet, send this message to my gf in London" (Pilot chucks parcel out) and then him reading about attack tactics in the MoInformation pamphlet in late 41 about extreme tactics in the BoB I only digested in 81

No wonder BAF rocked our world.

"The Stuka Pilots are getting ratty now"

I've got to put that up there with:

"You either f*ck. Or Walk."

And

"Yesterday was empathy. Today; you're wasting my MOTHERFKN TIME!"
