AK47 Variances

I've just realised that the Sonar Officer has a different AK47 than the Black Major. Yeah, I know its red, not grey/black, but it also has a shorter barrel. Does anyone know why this is? Were the red ones badly moulded, or is the Black Major's fitted with a silencer? :phones:
