Recarded GI Joe Crimson Guard

Post by Gazmondo »

Hi everyone, i've been lurking on the boards for quite a while, not posting much and just keeping up with the world of action force. Having said that i've been busy recarding figures and now it's time to show them off.
First up is a GI Joe crimson guard. The bubble became available from an online store and i'm suprised no one else has done this already.

I hope the image can be viewed ok, if not any tips on hosting would be great. There's more where this came from and i'll be posting more frequently.
Any comments would be good and if anyone else out there is doing recards it would be great to see them.
I've kept an eye out on Paulitoys recards, outstanding work there matey, keep it coming.

Hi & welcome aboard..
I'm not really into "re-carding " figures myself.. are the card back's originals, or do you print your own new cards from a template of some kind?
I've seen lots of custom figures of all sorts over the years, but have never worked out how they are made, are bubbles commercially available from some place, or do you have to make your own up?
More news, as its made, from new Action Force!

I used a scan of an original cardback with the bubble cut off rather than ripped off, making it easier to restore in photoshop. This takes a few hours of work but the end result makes it worthwhile. I've also got a blank template for this for making customs.
The bubble for the crimson guard is available from a couple of websites.

Hi Gary!

Great that you [eventually] post again!

You finally figured out how to host the pics then?

The Guard looks great, top class work.

Lets see all those Series 3 re-cards please!

Its just you and me on here that dabble with the re-cards. Hopefully some others will get inspired to have a go...

Hi Paulitoy, yeah, think it's just us doing the recards. I've the series two and three cardbacks, was going to start the first series but then progressed into the action force/GI Joe cardbacks which is where i'm focusing my work. I've not touched series three in a while exept for the ones I sent you.
Your doing a great job with yours so I thought i'd leave you to it.
I think the problem with action force recarding is the lack of blisters. The crimson guard is the only one commercially available so I try to use it on as many figures as possible which will be evident with my future postings. I'll start a new thread soon with them all in.
