The Variants/Body Parts Thread
Re: The Variants/Body Parts Thread
Hard to tell from them old pics but one is also a tad taller, and has a lip on the front of his helmet (lucky chap!
). So the head sculpt is different too. But we can deal with that later!!

Re: The Variants/Body Parts Thread
Ahh how i long for a lip on my helmet
And i suspect the lack thereof may be connected to the cataloguing of Action Force figures!
Yeah, plenty of time to discuss the minesweeper when we get there!
I just found an ATT SAS commando in my collection... how weird i never noticed before. It just shows that by looking we can find all sorts of oddities - and i suspect i'm not going to be the only one!

Re: The Variants/Body Parts Thread
Those fellers get around, Hoppy. I discovered on in my collection not long ago too. Keep yer eyes on that Steve feller, the variant hunter he is
Looking at it, my Minesweeper is the one on the right. They look like they are doing a highland gig, Steve.

Re: The Variants/Body Parts Thread
Carrying on this thread, and to keep Hopper busy over the weekend
- a few more Series 1 figures for analysis:
NIGHT PATROL (how I long for a MOC Night Patrol!)

No variants of him that I know of.
RED BERRET DUDE (as I call him)

Repainted to be green berret dude, and Z Force Caommander. Other limbs extensively reused in later series?
NAVAL ASSAULT

Again, no variants that I know of, but extensively reused in both series 1 and 2.
BRITISH MARINE

Seems there may have been a variant of him with the lighter green painted neck area and pockets? I've not got him that way.
That concludes shelf 1 of my cabinet. Next week - shelf two! (exciting aint it?)

Oh, I know the grey detonator is the wrong one for the Marine, but I brought the wrong one with me.

Re: The Variants/Body Parts Thread
Thanks steve!
Next batch coming right up!
I'll try and photograph some of my figures over the next few days
This is going really well.
If anyone sees something out of the ordinary, or that they think they have a variant from the published photographs, then let us know - all info makes the difference.
I'll stick Wave 1 on a word documant table when it's completed, and upload it to zshare/rapidshare/megaupload or something similar (anyone any preferences) so we can all have a copy, and you can shout corrections at me (you know... that actually
wears pink crotchless undercrackers, that sort of thing)
Cheers.

Re: The Variants/Body Parts Thread
Evenin' all
Productive day!
Here is the draft version of the Wave 1 catalogue of figures and their variants (i blasted through the whole group).
Let me know if there is anything not right, unclear, etc.
It's in word format, using a table. Hope this is ok for everyone.
The first table is a list of all body parts used by Wave 1 figures, with each one given a unique number (H = head, A = arm, B = body, L = leg). The next column lists the figures on which they are found. This gives us a shorthand way of referring to the body parts.
The second table is a list of each figure, its constituent body parts using the numbers ascribed above, followed by a brief description of the figure. The next column(s) list the known variants. This is where you boys and girls come in - look at the photos published by SteveD, see if there is anything different from your figures, and if yes, then post it up!
Here is the link - I uploaded to zshare.
Those of you who have never done this before, just follow the link to the page, and then follow the instructions to download it to your computer. This downloads it directly to your computer from a third party hosting site. Security issues... I have virus checked my computer, zshare also check the file to make sure, so it should be clean. However, if you are still concerned, virus check it before opening it. But you have my word as a gentleman and a scholar (and AF fan club member #22098 - I still have my dogtag!) that there is no bad things lurking.
here is the link, enjoy, and please leave feedback if anything needs changing

I'm really pleased that your doing this Hopper. It needs to be done.
And its great that Steve is helping with the photos.
But... for goodness sake Dawson, if your going to go to all the trouble to take the photos, why don't you give the figures the correct weapons before doing it!!!!
New collectors are going to see your photos - and the incorrect ones for some in the archive, which I always think should be removed [such as the US Para with the green weapons pack accessories] - and just get the wrong end of the stick completely.
The British Commando you've photographed has the wrong colour detonator [ok, you pointed that out], it should be brown. Plus he has the wrong gun, it should be a silver sten gun....
Of theses figures shown this time, the only one with a variant is the Commando, with the much discussed extra green pouches/webbing. The rest have no variants. I have a Night Patrol with no red markings on his chest, but I'm sure that it's a painting error rather than a variant.
Re the table Hopper. Excellent, but because I'm not a member of that freeshare site, I'm just too lazy to join up and actually see it. I imagine a lot of the rest of us are just as lazy.
Any chance you could save the doc as an interchangeable j-peg and then post it as a regular pic for our viewing pleasures.
Many thanks again!

Paul.
I should have mentioned you dont need to be a member of zshare, its free to all (you dont even need to be a member to upload anything - i'm certainly not). If you follow the link, and do what it says on the screen, all should become clear!
