all true, we have our own government just like a real country! bunch of selfish self centered ass holes, & the government are no different.
ive been here 4 & a half years now & im getting really sick of it! 4 year old kid was attacked by an ex-mental patient a week or so ago & stabbed to death, in a playground next to a wet market. his father tried to help, a couple of other people threw some plastic buckets @ him but nobody else actually jumped in & helped try to restrain the guy. he slashed the f*ck outa the kid, wasnt much left by the time he finished, & NOBODY ELSE JUMPED IN TO HELP?!
few weeks ago i came out of a toy mall to see an old guy assault a kid. his mother screamed & i was the only person who ran over. everybody else looked the other way (busy busy street) & just kept walking. couldnt do much, the guy was about 70 so if i had restrained him i would probably have had charges pressed against me but i got rid of the old f*cker!
people here are basically brought up to only give a sh*t about there familly & f*ck everyone else.
then there is the racism........ me an the wife get a bus to work everyday & if the bus doesnt have 2 seats next to each other we will wait for the next one. no one ever moves to another seat so we can sit together...... but as soon as a chinese couple turns up, quite often somebody will move for them! the bus doesnt leave until it's full & so many times ive got there & there is a line of locals stood there coz none of them will sit next to the indian guy @ the back!
was drinking a bar once & some dick started talking to me about the US elections & he was saying how as a white guy i shouldnt want to vote for obama, when the manager asked if he was bothering me i said yes & that he was a racist asshole, when i explained the situation he replied "oh, thats not racism, that just descrimination" i was gobsmacked!
bah, i bitch a lot about this place!

our apprentice works part time as an english teacher, all the schools are closing right now coz swine flu is getting a bit worse & parents were still sending their kids to school! they had been told not too for the kids safety & a big percentage of them complained it wasnt convenient & sent them in anyway! now the government have actually closed the schools for 2 weeks & all the parents are up in arms coz they dont feel it should be their responsibility to take care of their kids!

my wife is from hong kong & she always wanted to move back, she not too happy with it now either.
plus side is we own our own business which we couldnt afford to do in the UK, bad sides are all of the above + we have to do a lot of crap work, cover up loads of crap tattooes & deal with f*cking idiots we come to us, dont like our advice as far as them wanting something that will look crap or is not realisticly possible, going to another studio then coming back to us to ask us to fix it then complaining when it costs more to cover (if even possible) the crap tattoo that they dont like did in the 1st place, even tho the new tattoo needs to be bigger & will be much better, coz the other tattooist "is famous & has been around for ages" it doesnt matter that he is f*cking sh*t & doesnt sterilise f*ck all! people even say oh i know he's sh*t, but my friends go there & say he is cool. i wanna get it covered, but i can still say i got tattooed by that bald c*nt who cant even spell his own name.
check out this link, remember this guy is chinese: http://www.hanzismatter.com/2006/06/karma.html#links
read the comments, funny as f*ck! i know the girl, she was booking in with us but decided she should go with "mr famous" instead!
im designing a cd sleeve for some local kids in a band & they wanna use a pic she took of their vocalist & she wont let them unless they pay her or put her name in big letters accross the fron of the pic! it's a bunch of school kids for their demo, told her she will be fully credited inside but ot good enough!

She sounds so far up her own ass  I know what you mean about leaving home to start up your own business Ross I was talking to another tatooist on Facebook from the UK who works in tenerife he said that he was losing money where he lived so set up his own parlour in Playa de las Americas.

i might try to get back into printing, there is no money in the toy industry right now, so i can do that.

Dave Tree wrote:IF there was a convention in the UK, what sort of things would everybody like to see? It could be anything, just go for it.

Have your wish list like this;

1) Dealer Hall - gotta go home with a nice haul of new figures.
2) Show Exclusive - doesn't need to be a figure, something special to mark the occasion, an exclusive Red Dawn cover for example.
3) Talks - there is some great knowledge out there, great platform to present and impart the knowledge.
4) Guests - Ex-employees are a BIG ask (they have been hit by the Action Man community), however I think comic artists are possible from what I've seen and used to people geeking out around them.
5) Exhibition - Something to see, could be a toy exhibition or even a Muton World Tour map.
6) Competition - this could be from a 'timed custom' event or custom costume etc.
7) Website & revival - a chance to promote associated websites, but also of projects like Red Dawn etc.
Auction - A chance to get Eddie pissed and get him to bid £600 on a loose Muton.

Give me some ideas and maybe we can do something with them, I'd be up for kick starting something off, and with some of the dealers I know, I think a few could be interested in supporting the event, as long as people's expectations aren't too high, you gotta start somewhere.

Dave.

Just picking this up again, has anyone had any thought as to what they would like to see/ do if there was a convention?

Dave.
