That picture would be great in the toys archive! My badges are from 1/35 Tamiya decals. About the right scale for 1/18th, but smaller than the huge stickers they originally came with!

Historical fact coming up..
German helmets bore 2 insignia up untill May 1940,when, for better concealment the tricolour badge was supposed to have been painted over..by the later stages of the war the eagle had also been abandoned.

So it seems fitting that the earlier figures had badges & the later ones didn't..

Has any one ever seen this figure with only one helmet insignia on?

I think that was something to do with war time economy wasn't it?..I know the later German uniforms had a higher quantity of *shoddy" in the cloth,as well as using more ersatz equivalents for leather items of kit?

yep that's right, late war German uniforms sometimes had a brownish hint due to Russian material being pulped into the mix.

I think you got away with it Baron. I read that the later German gear was pretty crap too, TS. Just ask the poor buggers on the Russian front.

How on earth did I miss that! Must have had my InnuendoRadar set to "Passive" rather than "active".

Right, [cough cough, clears throat],

Helmets???? Rims???? Where to start????? In fact, I will let my mentor and hero say it all for me.....

Ahhh, that's better.
