I have seen a smaller version of this pic before but never noticed.

its so obvious with the para but not so obvious with the arctic trooper.

yes, that is a prototype too, there are several throughout the Palitoy catalogues, I just grabbed that image as it shows two Star Wars figures as the base for the proposed toy :)

For what it's worth, I had the catalogue for about 5 years until I noticed it, that's why I said it would be a kick in the balls when you find out ;)

So the catalogue had proposed toys such that if they looked like they may sell they would produce them. Must be loads of others out there like that?

That's another one, but I'm about 50/50 on it, I *think* that whole figure is a resculpted Han Solo with small head, but not 100% sure.

That was certainly true with Action Man, it helped gague the respose from retailers, without comitting to full scale tooling. With Action Force though, there's nothing shown in the catclogues that wasn't produced in some form.
