Which comic ?............

I vaguely remember buying up copies of a certain comic in the early eighties to get the free action force figures which were sellotaped to the front of them as "free gifts"

If I remember rightly I got a "british marine", "SAS frogman", "squad leader", "2 para" and possibly a few others.

does anyone remember which comic this was ??? I thought it was "Eagle" but not 100%

I think they were also given away with Eagle, Tiger and Roy of the Rovers that same week.

I went to get that issue, and every single shop had sold out. My first copy of BAF was the following week.

I seem to remember getting series 2 figs with mine.

Deep Sea Diver, and Z Force Infantry certainly ringing bells. Possibly Z Force Captain too. The loose collection from back then certainly seems to back it up. Possible that different areas of the country had different freebies? I was in the North East.
