I've only got one example myself, closely exam the bar section of the letter A it can either be moulded flush with or raised up from the rest of the letter.Hopper wrote:Thundershot wrote:Have you catalogued the detonator box moulding variant yet?![]()
No... What variant?
Where?
Let me at it.

When confronted by a difficult problem you can solve it more easily by reducing it to the question. How would the Lone Ranger handle this?

I had no idea! Thanks for the heads up!
Right.
I've checked all of the detonators I have - black, grey and brown - and they all have a raised bar on the letter A, none are flush.
Bugger!
Any chance of photograph, old bean?

Sure thing.
A: Raised Bar
B: T'other one
Apart from the letter A other differences, from the raised bar, include the copyright details laid out horizontally & sprue connection tab positioned on the bottom, rather than on the side, of the box.
I've got a feeling that the non raised bar variant may of came from the S.A.S. Battle Gear accessories pack?
Hope this helps out with your research Hop'.

You're a star Tshot.
They are very different, aren't they
Especially the flashing on the back, and the copyright details.
What do the acronyms stand for? Anyone know?
I wonder if it the places of manufacture, in which case we might be able to identify the reason there are so many variants.
Interesting.
Now I'll have to keep an eye open for one.

I just checked with the archive and it looks like the Battle Gear version is attached to the sprue from the side, not the bottom, which would jive more with the regular version.
Don't know though.
Ooooh, this is exciting.
Alright, I know it's not.

Hi
I think G.M.P.G stands for General Mills Products Group, the parent company who owned both Palitoy & Kenner toys @ the time.

Just checked the red Q Force Det' box & that's a raised bar too... as it's basically the same as the S.A.S. Battle Gear sprue I'm @ a loss to explain the origins of this flat bar example.
Every other colour variant (grey, red, green & black un's) in my possession are raised bar examples.
