Dusty`s Crew

Post by scoobydie »

Always thought Dusty has similarities to the Ground Assault troops.
Here he is giving a briefing to the attack squad.

Very nice! There's a load of Joe vehicles in a similar colour scheme too. The Mobile Command Centre and Mean Dog for starters.

Now if you popped a Assault trooper head on a Dusty body.............
And why are the crotches always busted on the Dusty figures?
Must have been a well played with figure :)

dusty wasn't the only one with crotch disease, monkeywrench and Snake Eyes v2 suffered badly (I'm sure there's a realy old thread on yojoe about this).

obviously Hasbro wasn't paying attention when they QC'd these figs at prototype level back in '85, so to make up for it they gave us T-crotches in 2002 and then uber-fat crotches in the 25th anniversary relaunch, both of which make the "fully poseable" claim a little bit less truthful!?.

And the old problem of loose limbs!
I`ve been told to spray clear nail varnish on the legs to stop the flop, I`ve no idea how
to stiffen the elbow joints though?

Love the pic Andy - looks great and really works well together!

That brown background as well looks all desert-y.

sigh brings back memories of the Ground Assault costume I had for my Action Man as a kid, that was one of the big appeals to me as a kid about Action Force getting a tiny version of a costume I had for my 12 inch Action Man, kinda like a travel Action Man like they used to do travel connect 4 and such.

Great picture, I always wanted armies of figures as a kid, must be great to relive (or even improve on) your childhood days.

Did anyone else play with their Q Force in the bath?

You just need a rubby great sand pit for those babies, and they can fight the Afrika Korps or something

great pics, a fun way to incorporate those figs into your other later Action Force guys

these desert guys were the basis for Sandune ( create a character contest )

and the artic guys were the basis for Woolcap ( another create a character contest )

which by the way both issues featuring/cameoing the characters that were created in that contest have been finished

they will be showing up from time to time also in other stories we have working on as well, including RED DAWN ( see issue 1 for the cameo of Wool Cap )

Seems that the figures that typically had broken crotches had more brittle plastic based on the color. Gold seems to be the most brittle.

Of course, the amount of playtime the figure got also increased this occuring.
