so, I got volumes 1, 2 and 4 for xmas (amazon are playing silly buggers over vol. 3)

it's definitely interesting to read the first issues that were never released over here. they're not bad, but not particularly brilliant either. after about issue #10, the comic's definitely starting to get its stubble before getting the full beard when Destro and Bludd appear.

it's also interesting to note, not only did Marvel UK edit the dialogue in the pages they did use, they also completely removed 2 pages in one issue: the page where Jaye and Ripcord arrive (Jaye and Scarlett do NOT get along, lol) and a second one where Clutch is trying to talk Cover Girl into mud-wrestling with Scarlett as entertainment at the opening of the refurbished PIT. Several pages were also taken out of the story 'All the Ships at Sea' when the Joes battle the Cobras on the South Atlantic atoll.

overall, though i'm loving it.

Ah, I knew there were some edits and I ntoiced that some of the page counts looked a bit off when I did the reprints summary: http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/comics/maf/001.html

How many Marvel US issues have been collected, do you know?

the last one released is 6. so 1-60 to date.

vol. #1 is #1 to #10
vol 2 is #11 to #20

etc.

volume 7 is due March 1. Amazon UK are claiming they've not been able to get volume 3 and that the release was delayed. IDW's site store has it though and I have contacted IDW and the bloke who replied to my email said he'd get in touch with the guy who deals with Amazon in their sales department.

volume 6 was supposed to be out in November, but is also not yet available on Amazon UK. it's also on IDW's site.

you're looking at around £20 to buy one of them and get it shipped to the UK from IDW.

got volume 5 today. i found another page that was removed. when Billy leaves Storm Shadow in New York, he next shows up with a pair of nuns who picked him up hitch-hiking outside Springfield. The one nun is impressed by his serenity. he gets dropped off and we see him hitching again as Chuck's car approaches. this page was removed in the UK reprints so he suddenly appears alongside Chuck and Candy just before the car-crash at the level-crossing when Scrap Iron kills Soft Master and Candy.

there's another page i think they took out, possibly two in the story where Stormy and Snakes are trying to get off Cobra Island afer their failed bid to off Zartan. one is where the helicopter Baroness, Destro and Mindbender are in crashes into the FANGs and Rattlers, forcing :storm: and  to head for the hydrofoil base and the other is where :doc2: is treating ' :ripcord: ' and he briefly sees :ripcord: become :zartan: .

finally got vol. 3!!!!!

It arrived today! there's a couple more where pages have been removed, including the actual bit where Billy rifles through the files in the circus and one where Hawk gets a message from Gung-Ho in Bethesda that Stormy and Snakes have the same tatt and Hawk warns Duke it means Stormy's more dangerous than they suspected.

the whole thing also makes more sense when you've been reading the issues MUK never ran and you know all about the machinations of the Cobra command properly.
