Will do in time , but I've come to a solution as far as the scan size problem I have a few issues where Charley was reprinted in the megazine so I'll colour over those scans instead which will be bigger and easier to read, incidently I've had a word with Pat Mills on Facebook , he say's it's ok to work on it as long as it remains within a fanart context (which it is)he say's colours look very modern , not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing , I want to reflect the times so I may go for a more realistic colour scheme in the next episode.

Came home to find Charley's War Vol. 9 had arrived earlier in the week.

Moose Harris has done an incredible job again cleaning the scans up (BTW he is also working on Charley's War Vol. 3, albeit in French, and thus the earlier volumes are now being cleaned up in the process).

Was all the more poignant as this volume is the point where I discovered Charley's War in 1983, realised how big an impression some of the scenes (Battle of the Falklands) and characters (Skin) and words (Napoo) had made on me.

Mills' notes seem more focused this time but not read all yet. Confirms the series will end after Charley's participation in the Russian Civil War.

Recommendation: BUY

Oddly enough, the French version of Charley's War reproduces the early colour pages that were grimly-gruesomed scanned in the English volumes.

The Wilf Bourne and Quentin Canal covers were stonking at the time, really worked in colour.

From memory, the Wilf Bourne cover in the last Charley's War, Vol. 8, was reproduced from the original uncoloured artwork itself, Joe's art was astonishing to see in such detail.

"In a Art of Joe Coloqhoun book".. personally didn't think Scott's stories were weak or anything , I enjoyed the episodes where Oily and Ol Bill have a boxing fight for example , Joe really did a great job aging those characters, I think Scott Goodall did his best to try and capture the spirit of the original characters .. but perhaps it lacked the anger and acid wit that Pat injected .. One of the reasons Pat decided to stop was the research budget seemed to be a vital factor in writing these stories.. I would of liked to of seen Smith 70 and Young Alf in WW2 era come to think of it, but they are so Mills I guess only he could write them.
An Art of Joe Coloqhoun book might be a great idea actually you could also feature his work on Soldier Sharp-Rat of The Rifles a story about a coniving toe rag (Soldier Spiv may of been a better name) that originally appeared in Valiant until it was eaten up by Battle and his work on Zarga, Man of Mystery, Mask (not for the story but to actually see his work .. I bet he could of competed with the new breed working on Transformers and Zoids etc.. and showed them a thing or too always remember Ron Smith's run on Zoids another fantastic draftsman)
Book 10 .. I think perhaps it is fitting it ends there .. I actually thought it quite strange at the time how the story in Russia ended so suddenly and the fact it jumped years within the space of weeks .. I kinda of got used to the Charley saga at it's proper pace.
