Yojoe Comic Archive - Help needed
Yojoe Comic Archive - Help needed
I've been working with Yojoe's International site manager to incorporate Battle Action Force into their Comics Database. Here is a WIP snapahsot of the site, we're aiming to get it together for the 25th Anniversary celebration on October 8th.

What we will need, over time, are synopses of the comics themselves (which can be found through my Demonoid torrents here: http://www.bloodforthebaron.com/phpbb2/ ... =18&t=1778). If you would be interested in helping out, please drop me a PM.

Re: Yojoe Comic Archive - Help needed
Hello everyone,
Antarctica or Josh here.
The BAF section is up and running at the YO Joe site. And I have begun writing the summaries for all of the individual issues. I am starting at the beginning of the Cobra Era, cause it is the issues that personnally have. I only have issues from 1985 and not even all of them.
So I could use some help in filling out the summaries, espcially for the pre-Cobra era issues.
Here is the what the pages look like http://www.yojoe.com/comics/baf/bafsummary/baf509.shtml
The summaries can be very short.
Yo Joe is one of the most viewed Joe/Action Force sites on the internet and your contributions will be recognized.
Thanks

I am possibly interested in writing a synopsis/summary of issues...however computer technology is like alien language to me...
If I get time to figure out what torrents are...maybe I can add my help.
Love the idea and want to voice that, but help wise I'm proabbaly not up to the challenge.

I think it must be old age. Because I definately think the youth today waste their time being on the computer too much. That's mis-spent youth. As with all things moderation is the key.Double-tap wrote:PoetFlint i too am baffled by these computer things although i use one all the time in work and have no problems i cant seem to work out my own pc. baffled when it comes to posting pictures and downloading stuff. the best of it is i've been on a few computer courses and done quite well but cant seem to retain the information. old age or a mis-spent youth??

I didn't grow up using computers, and while it frustrates me in aspects like this, I am glad I spent my youth using my imagination and being outside for the majority of the time.

OK, a quick tutorial in the world of internet piracy
I recommend Utorrent, but there are many other programs you can use; BitComet, Azureus, Bitlord, BitTornado. All have their own little differences but they are essenitally the same. Anyway, go here, download and install utorrent.
Then, go here and download the latest torrent file attachments.
Now, if you click on each torrent file, it will open automaticaly in Utorrent. You will get a popup box, all you need to do is hit OK.
Leave them running overnight, and you'll see the progress bar creep ut to 100% - these aren't huge torrents, all roughly 350MB so it shouldn't take long. Once they are finished, right-click and hit Remove. You can then move them to the folder of your choice.
However, please could you leave them running awhile once they hit 100%? This will help seed the data to other downloaders.

Thanks for your interest in helping.
Of course, the old fashion way works also. Break out the old issues (assuming you have them) and read them. That is how I have been doing them.
I have a word doc that can be filled in pretty easily, so format and figuring out how to do it wont be necessary. Just some creative writing skills and time and of Word.
I have been doing a few each day. Usually takes me about 15 minutes per issue maybe more if the stories are more invovling plot wise.

Yeah I have most of the old issues and could read them and fill in the summary accordingly if I had some type of word template.
I'm a simpleton when it comes to computers. If you could share the word template I might be able to figure out how to fill that in. lol.
