Where there loads of geeky questions being fired at him or people trying to tell him everything about Transformers as if he didn't know anything?

If he likes G1 so much, then why was he writing that awful "Infiltration" and "Escalation" for IDW and then allowing them to be labelled as G1 when they clearly aren't? "Devastation" was also bad, but not so much as those two. And he was so a good writer in the G1 days...

They were a reboot just like the current GI Joe is also by IDW DA so new readers could jump on from the start. Plus Marvel never really delved into the Transformers history in the US title not until Simon started to write it.

Plus Marvel never really delved into the Transformers history in the US title not until Simon started to write it. Dreamwave TF also was a reboot but it was G1 indeed. Since Transformers is a metaseries now, the writers must keep some details to allow each series to be a rendition of each franchise, and the IDW material doesn't take those details into account; just like all the other series, it changes a lot (original crews, punk Bumblebee, Zarak-less Scorponok, living Fasttrack, new guys named Galvatron and Goldbug, etc). The story is also bad, but it has nothing to do with it being G1 or not; the avobe points say why it isn't G1. And yes, Furman gave new life to the original Marvel run, and he still wrote good stuff for IDW, like Beast Wars the Gathering (part of an undefined G1 universe) and Stormbringer (a good part of the IDWverse, though that still doesn't make it G1), but Infiltration and Escalation were BOOO-RING!
