Since Dave has excited us all with this marvelous find, I've been trying to reason it out.
Its almost certainly not from Series 2 as there is no apparent team connection. All the other figures were obviously team members with the logos printed blatantly on them all somewhere [except for the mighty Muton].
Its obviously not Series 3 as they were all multi-limbed GI Joe repaints.
So it must surely have a connection with Series 1, although these were nearly all Action Man-redux related.
It could possibly be from inbetween Series 1 and 2 as an idea that was thrown around before the 5-Forces concept was settled on... Obviously, mere speculation.
It might be from some kind of vehicle or playset.
It might also have been intended as some kind of mail-away. The [Z Force] Commander Mail-away figure has no obvious connection to any team.
I'm puzzled by the chest logo as it is about the only 'clue' to the figure's affiliation.
Until Dave can take a clear chest photo, I've tried to enlarge it [not very successfully!]
It looks like some kind of maroon 'rocket' on the right of the chest and probably some writing or a symbol of some kind on the left. All very mysterious...

Im thinking this could have been the start of a "new" force.
the card says "SPECIAL WEAPONS F."
obviously it cant be Z force special weapons or Q force special weapons etc because of the logo ?
all body parts are generic from wave one, however Palitoy could just have used whatever parts were lying about to mock up a future figure ?
the plot thickens !!

Look at the old Series 1 Headquarters - it has the exact same orangey/black slanted strips pattern as on the figure's chest!
This figure may well have a connection to this base.
Maybe it was intended as a figure to be included with the base?
The Scientist angle would certainly fit with the Headquarters concept!

Really does seem to fit in with the action force headquarters
Though "Nerd Force" does seem to have a ring to it

I reckon Paul's probably right. I think it is wave 1 and it may have been intended to be included with the base. Something akin to the Commander. Action Force management I can see why it would have been ditched in that case. Not "Action" enough. I don't think it would have a been a new force. It may have been an Space Force mock-up that pre-dates the 4 forces mind you. Very intriguing.

im with th wave one thing, esp as he looks a lot more like an "action man"
a special weapons force sounds cool but doesnt seem to fit with the way the line was heading later on...

Could it of been an early concept for the space force badge/logo?

| This is a blanket motive fallacy attached to everyone attempting to confirm this from somewhere outside their own circle of interest. |

HA! I guess so...
Dave, this is BIG news in the [very small] AF world! The first 'new' figure in many years!
If you get the chance, it would be really great to get a good, clear pic of his chest, and also the back of the figure as well next time you enter the Batcave.
Thanks again, its chirped me up this weekend after a really knackering week.
