I've read the first issue (issue 2 out next week) and it's ok. Not mind blowing but a decent enough story, plenty of action and the art's not bad. It's on par with the other IDW series I've read. It's certainly not "a return to the original idea of Action Man" as promised in ROM #0, it's a definite ...

They have since FFS 3 (maybe 4). Not sure about earlier waves.

I've just checked the AF3's I've got and I have 1 of each type, so it definitely seems to be a variant. Maybe it's like the command center and it depends on where it was made as to what pattern it got painted on it?

Not a bad lineup. 2 brand new characters was unexpected.
I'm glad the case assortments are sensible (1 of each 2 pack per case) but I fully expect to be stuck with a load of Snake Eyes / Storm Shadow sets after everything else has sold.
